With Wondering Awe. . .

This Christmas season has been particularly magical for me for some reason. And I think the biggest reason is this little green beauty in our living room.

(please excuse Justin's feet - and the askew tree skirt)

We went looking for a tree with the idea that it would be small, the cheapest we could find. First, we're on a tight budget, and second, we have two cats and a 1 1/2 year old. A small tree perched high upon a table or entertainment center cabinet seemed like the safest option. BUT, when we went looking we discovered that these trees were the same price as the little wee ones. So, I decided to throw all caution to the wind and go big.

I've always been a bit of a Noble Fir snob. But this year, our little Douglas Fir is the best, the most perfect little tree I've ever seen. Maybe because it was an unexpected treat, maybe because of how much Adam loves it and the fact that his little hands helped decorate it.

Either way, I love it and it sure does feel like Christmas around here.

Here is a cute little video about the true meaning of Christmas.

Calling In Sick

Today Adam called in sick. And, as is standard protocol, he spent much of the morning lounging on the couch watching Sesame Street.

And added some dramatic poses to make it really believable.

But, in all fairness, the little fella is indeed a bit sickly. Fever of 102 degrees last night and at least four teeth threatening to make a sudden appearance and leaving swollen red gums that would make Rudolph proud.
I must admit my guilty pleasure in this. . . the cuddling, oh the cuddling! I would never wish this upon Adam, but I will enjoy the cuddling.

Burst your Button

This Thanksgiving we had a last minute change of plans and went to Santa Barbara for the turkey feast. And feast it was, and feast we did! How is it that even when I limit myself to one plate's worth of food, I'm still painfully full? Okay, maybe it was all the nibbling I did while helping clean up the dishes. But, hey, there wasn't enough tupperware for all the leftovers, so a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. You can even see in one of the pictures that Adam busted open his top button also. So, I'm in good company.
The best thing about this Thanksgiving is that both my brothers and I were all there this year! That hasn't happened in quite some time. One afternoon we went outside with the kids and ran around. . . and when I say 'we' ran around I, of course, mean 'Justin' ran around. Adam LOVED having Cadence and Melissa to play with and they were both so great with him; carting him around everywhere and being so patient. And the piano. . . oh the piano! Adam was in heaven. I left coveting both a back yard and a piano.
Thanks mom and dad for hosting a great holiday!
Enjoy the pics!
