Villa Montalvo

On a whim today, we went to Villa Montalvo in Saratoga. It is an old estate that was donated to a non-profit group and is free to the public. There are trails and gardens and it is stunning. We hiked up to Lookout Point, and I have one word. . . steep. It just kept going up. The view was beautiful and it felt good to push myself to get to the top. Of course, Justin did the whole thing pushing Adam in the jogging stroller (but I think we ended up even, because I had gone for a jog already this morning). When we finished the hike we let Adam frolic about in one of the gardens. Really stunning, aside from the occasional creepy statue. It reminded me of one of the gardens in the Emma Thompson/Kenneth Branaugh version of 'Much Ado About Nothing'.

I went a little nuts with the photography, but it was really fun. And we got a couple of keepers. Let me know which one is your favorite (I know that I got a lot of 'back' shots of Adam. There are really two reasons for this: 1) I like back shots and 2) Adam is definitely and independent agent now, and is subject to no one else's whim).

Enjoy.

Taiko-tastic!

Last month we went to the Obon Festival in Japantown in downtown San Jose. It was really neat and located right next to a little buddhist temple. . . beautiful. We showed up just in time for the Berkeley Taiko group. They were fun to watch. Adam was mesmerized, as you can see below. In my next life I want to take up Taiko (how very buddhist of me).

Best by. . .

Looks like we have a little longer to use him up before he goes bad.
