Feet

One evening Adam and I were hanging out in the living room killing time before it was time for him to hit the hay. It was a beautiful day and the sun streaming in through the window was lovely. I just laid on the floor with him and took pictures for the longest time. I like evenings like that. Don't get me wrong, most evenings are not quite so blissful, but I do love it when they are.

Enjoy!

I love having talented friends. . .

. . . because they made me cool things like this:

Thank you, Nancy!! I miss you.

Or, maybe THIS?

Road Trip

A few weeks ago, Adam and I took off for a little road trip to Santa Barbara. We stopped in San Luis Obispo on the way down and the way back to visit with old friends. Old friends made new again is a wonderful feeling. Like 2 and half years hadn't even passed. We went to the zoo and visited the harbor, ate lots of good food, visited with even older friends; practically family memebers, really. And all my worry prior to the trip about how Adam would do in the car, and how he would sleep while we were away, was for naught. He travelled great in the car and slept better at my parents' house than he does at home!

Enjoy the photographic journal!

It should really be called Wild Boar Lake. . .

We went camping!! This past Friday we went to Coyote Lake for a one night camping extravaganza. Jorge, Emma and Charlotte were our camping buddies and we had a great time. I wish we could have stayed more than one night. Next time. The highlights were:

  • watching the sun set. . . . I don't know the last time I was able to be outside and just sit and watch dusk roll in.

  • needing the first aid kit 10 minutes after we got there (Adam fell and scraped his chin a little bit)

  • s'mores cooked over an open fire

  • Taboo played by lantern-light

  • seeing deer and wild turkeys walking down the road. The turkeys were much smaller than I would have guessed.

  • Being woken up in the middle of the night by a wild boar rifling through our camp site (thank you RV neighbors who left your recycling bag outside).

  • having fresh bacon for breakfast - thank you wild boar. . . . just kidding. Instead we had pancakes with no syrup. . . I forgot the syrup. . . not a good think to do to hungry men early in the morning.

  • Charlotte and Adam getting d.i.r.t.y.

  • Charlotte and Adam both crying their heads off as we got them ready for bed. It was sooo nice to camp with another 1 year old. That way we didn't feel bad when we both had to listen to our little ones cry themselves to sleep. We could fully share in the experience.

  • Walking by the lake - muddy - not very inviting.

  • the velveteen hillside.

  • waking up to fog. LOVED IT!

  • bathrooms 20 feet from our tent.

  • electrical outlet and water spigot in our campsite.

  • awesome neighbors who lent us their tent, port-a-crib and air mattress. The tent had fabric dividers you could hang up to divide up the tent. Adam had his own room!! Amazing.

The only thing I didn't love was not sleeping most of the night. I think I was distracted worrying if Adam was warm enough and then kept awake by all the unfamiliar noises. Maybe when we go again we can stay longer and I will get used to all of that. Anway, I loved it and hope everyone else did too. Here are some pics. Enjoy!

move over Michael Phelps

Adam was officially submerged in a large body of water on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Nelson's home on Summit Road (those details are strictly for my record keeping purposes). He loved it, we loved it. I did accidentally slip in the pool while I was holding him and dunked his head underwater once, but even with that it was a huge success!

Enjoy!
