We went camping!! This past Friday we went to Coyote Lake for a one night camping extravaganza. Jorge, Emma and Charlotte were our camping buddies and we had a great time. I wish we could have stayed more than one night. Next time. The highlights were:
- watching the sun set. . . . I don't know the last time I was able to be outside and just sit and watch dusk roll in.
- needing the first aid kit 10 minutes after we got there (Adam fell and scraped his chin a little bit)
- s'mores cooked over an open fire
- Taboo played by lantern-light
- seeing deer and wild turkeys walking down the road. The turkeys were much smaller than I would have guessed.
- Being woken up in the middle of the night by a wild boar rifling through our camp site (thank you RV neighbors who left your recycling bag outside).
- having fresh bacon for breakfast - thank you wild boar. . . . just kidding. Instead we had pancakes with no syrup. . . I forgot the syrup. . . not a good think to do to hungry men early in the morning.
- Charlotte and Adam getting d.i.r.t.y.
- Charlotte and Adam both crying their heads off as we got them ready for bed. It was sooo nice to camp with another 1 year old. That way we didn't feel bad when we both had to listen to our little ones cry themselves to sleep. We could fully share in the experience.
- Walking by the lake - muddy - not very inviting.
- the velveteen hillside.
- waking up to fog. LOVED IT!
- bathrooms 20 feet from our tent.
- electrical outlet and water spigot in our campsite.
- awesome neighbors who lent us their tent, port-a-crib and air mattress. The tent had fabric dividers you could hang up to divide up the tent. Adam had his own room!! Amazing.
The only thing I didn't love was not sleeping most of the night. I think I was distracted worrying if Adam was warm enough and then kept awake by all the unfamiliar noises. Maybe when we go again we can stay longer and I will get used to all of that. Anway, I loved it and hope everyone else did too. Here are some pics. Enjoy!

Wild turkeys and boars?! Holy cow, that IS an adventure :)
Love you!
Sounds like fun.... all except the not sleeping part. I experienced that with Averie as a baby once and didn't go camping again until this year. If Adam did well I see some more camping in your future. There is nothing like living outdoors. Kids love it and although its a lot of work getting there it is so relaxing and beautiful. Glad you enjoyed your first time camping w/ Adam.
Glad you had fun :o) Wildlife is fun....we had wild turkeys that would pass through our yard early morning and evening, at the house we lived in before we moved here. Kinda cool ;o)
