Christmas

This Christmas we took our first trip to Santa Barbara since Adam was born. The drive went really well. Adam slept most of the time and only complained for the last hour or so. We kept busy by eating, doing puzzles, sleeping, eating, talking and eating. We were all still a little sick while we were there and it rained a bit, and I realized that I didn't set foot in the backyard even once while we were there. It was nice to be with my family and enjoy a relaxing time. Enjoy the pics!

Hilary and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

So, yesterday Adam and I started coming down with the yucky cold-type thing that Justin has been suffering with for the last week.  On top of that, Adam is teething (his first tooth broke through a couple of days ago!). So, when I went to bed last night, Justin stayed up to try to help a very cranky Adam get to sleep. At 2:30am I got up to find Justin sitting out in the living room holding Adam in the Baby Bjorn because Adam just kept waking up and crying hysterically.  At that point I had Justin go to bed while I tried to put Adam down in his crib.  Adam did end up going down.  He woke up multiple times crying, but fell back asleep fairly easily (that was a real blessing because it allowed Justin and I to get a little bit of sleep).  Then with bleary eyes and a throat of sandpaper, I stumbled out to the kitchen this morning to start heating up Adam's milk.  After about a minute I was finally awake enough to realize that our kitchen was FULL of ants.  EVERYWHERE.  Gross.  So, today has been spent spraying at ants with cleaners, cleaning up the cleaners (so we don't kill our cats with chemicals), airing out the house, buying a second cat carrier, so that when we have to vacate our house tomorrow afternoon for the pest control people, we will have enough carriers to transport our sick selves and our cats to Justin's parent's house, buying lunch because there is no way I trust anything in our kitchen, trying to soothe a baby who is very unhappy because his teeth hurt and he is so stuffed up he can't breath and suck on a pacifier at the same time,  trying to forget my throbbing head and sandpaper throat, coming to terms with the fact that there will most likely be no naps taken today by before-mentioned upset baby, and looking forward to the Bonnie Hunt show to come on so I can escape the reality for at least an hour.

But, really, we are lucky to have Justin's parent's house to escape to and a roof over our heads. . . even if we have to share that roof with thousands of little creepy crawly critters.

I hope your day is going better than mine!

From Visits to Cups

Grandma and Grandpa Pyle came a visited us for a few days after Thanksgiving. It was nice to spend some time together. And aside from a last-minute upset in a game of Scrabble, a great time was had by all. :-) Unfortunately, I didn't take many pictures at all while they were here and the one below is the best one I came away with. Phooey. We'll get more and better ones at Christmas time.

Adam is not yet crawling, but is getting up on his hands and knees and rocking back and forth. Yesterday he was laying on the ground and I was doing something on the computer. When I looked down next, he was sitting upright. So, unless the little "sitting up" fairies came and helped him up, he managed it himself. And, of course, I was totally oblivious and missed the whole thing! Phooey again.

And, in other news, I've started to introduce Adam to his friend, the CUP. He actually seems to really like it, as long as the water in there is warm, not cold. That is pretty much it for now. Enjoy the pics!

Thanksgiving 2008

Thanksgiving was spent with the Reimers' side of the family saying goodbye to Justin's parents. They left for a 2 year mission for our church to London, England on December 1. We will miss them but are excited for this chapter in their lives. Much good food was eaten and a relaxing time with family was enjoyed.

Enjoy the pics.
