Adam's got a brand new bag

Victory!

No, not victory in the "we're better than you" sense, but victory over myself. Last night we put Adam in his crib, in his own room for the first time and it was a smashing success! It took me a couple of weeks of hemming and hawing, but knowing full well that I needed to do it and the sooner the better. My final stalling technique was the old, "what if someone comes in through the open window and steals him?" line. But, I resolved that complaint yesterday by going and buying some little window locks. So, now the window can be open so he won't suffocate but no one can come and abscond with him. No more excuses. And, yes, I really think those thoughts. Sometimes I think I am a living, breathing, "Worst Case Scenerio" book. So, I ripped the proverbial band-aid off last night and laid him down in his crib. A few tears later I was fast asleep and I actually think I slept much better without him inches away from me. This morning he was just hanging out in his crib staring at the mobile. So, here is to the first step towards our boy being a strong, independent adult. Sigh.

The beach pictures are from our trip to Santa Cruz for Heidi's birthday party. We stopped at the beach for a few minutes before going to Fast Eddies for a little billiards. This was a day of two firsts for Adam: first walk on the beach and first trip to a bar. Hopefully he will find more enjoyment out of the former rather than the latter. But playing pool was fun and it was great to celebrate Heidi's birthday!
